Safety Statement
North-East Taekwon-Do School is committed to providing a SAFE, FUN and INCLUSIVE environment for Taekwon-Do students of all ages.
We work with a number of governing bodies and agencies to ensure that robust and transparent measures are in place to prioritise and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in Taekwon-Do against harm, discrimination and abuse.
A structure exists within our Club to develop, implement and promote safeguarding practices in line with relevant National Policies and Statutory Acts.

- Assistant Instructors: A cohort of senior students who have also been Garda Vetted and completed appropriate training.
North-East Taekwon-Do School encourages our club ethos amongst all members, including the following core principles:
- The welfare of children and young people is paramount.
- A high standard of teaching and instruction is rigorously upheld.
- Whatever their age, culture, ability, gender, language, racial origin, religious beliefs, and/or sexual identity, all children and young people have the right to protection from abuse.
- Any suspicions or allegations of abuse and/or poor practice will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly, fairly and appropriately.
- Children and young people are valued, listened to and respected.
- Children and young people will know who the appointed DLP and CCO members are in our Club and how to contact them if they need support.
- We create a positive culture and climate in our Club.
- Safety is everyone’s business.
Training courses to facilitate and promote high standards of safety and practice include:
- International Instructor Courses (ITF)
- National Umpire and Instructor Training (IMAC)
- First Aid Courses including CPR (Resus First Aid)
- Children’s First Training (HSE)
- Garda Vetting (An Garda Síochána via IMAC)
- Safeguarding Children in Sport (Sport Ireland Ethics):
- These interactive courses are available at a number of levels. The content is “underpinned by national policy and legislation in Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children 2017 and the requirements under The Children First Act 2015”.
- They are also “informed by Tusla’s Child Safeguarding: A Guide for Policy, Procedure and Practice, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, The Child Care Act 1991, The Protections for Persons Reporting Child Abuse Act 1998 and the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012-2016”.
